A cloaker is a large, winged creature that hangs from high ceilings like a leather cloak.1 One lay in wait with three darkmantles in a hall of the sealed Underforge Vaults beneath Argentum, and the party killed it on the Vigil of Remembrance, 1714 PSF.2
Appearance
At rest, a cloaker hangs drooped low from a ceiling, like a leather cloak hung over a rack but much bigger, with its trailing edges drooping some fifteen feet.2 When it moves, the dangling leather unfurls and opens out, and it flies with massive wingbeats. It has a tail.2
Behavior
The cloaker in the vaults hung among darkmantles and stayed inside their magical darkness, where only Rhysaene could see it.2 It announced itself with an awful wailing moan that echoed through the hall and the chambers beyond, and stirred a primal fear in everyone who heard it.2 When it attacked, it dropped out of the darkness shrieking, impaled its prey with its tail, and lunged to wrap itself round them.2 As it died, it flailed and spread its wings as if to beat its attackers away.2
History
Session 12
The cloaker descended on the party as they entered the hall and struck at Iva with its tail.2 Hazel, as a dire wolf, slammed it into the ground, and Rhysaene, Iva and Temerity wore it down. Temerity killed it with an uppercut of her hammer that snapped its neck, and its wings fell like leaves upon the wind.2
Session 13
Hazel butchered the cloaker afterwards and took a good deal of hide and meat.3 The hide is slimy to the touch but leaves no residue, and what it reflects looks refracted and off-kilter.3 Hazel knew it for a creature of the world below, not of the Sorrow.3
