Moon

The moon is always a crescent, with little white fragments in its hollow.¹ It has no phases.¹

Before the Starfall

The coven that raised Hazel teaches that before the Starfall the moon had phases. As the sun’s light fell on it and the world cast its shadow, it showed half, a crescent or full, or all but disappeared, visible only by the stars it blocked. Something about the impact gave it a permanent luminance, and there has been no new moon since.¹ Hecate taught Hazel this, and the teaching is the coven’s, not widely held.¹

Worship

The coven worships the moon, and prays with moonstones. Within the Silver Vale the moon cannot be seen as a thing of protection and beauty the way it once was elsewhere, because of its association with what shattered it and the world. See Shattered Mother.²³

Session 13

The night of the Vigil of Remembrance, 1714 PSF, was clear, and the ever-crescent moon watched the party walk into the candlelit streets of Argentum.¹
