Mathas Drace

Mathas Drace is Luma’s grandfather, and the son of Eliath Drace.¹ His seal is that of the Drace Logging Company.¹ Luma spoke of him at the Sterling Sovereign, along with Erhadell, while talking about those who came before her and how little they wrote down.²

Biography

Session 13

Luma knew Mathas’s firsthand account of the Elder Exodus: he watched his father simply walk out.³

Session 14

A parcel from Mathas reached Luma under the seal of the Drace Logging Company on the night of the Vigil of Remembrance, 1714 PSF.¹ His letter told her that he had finalized a short exploratory contract with the Sterling Timber Yard and Sawmill, of only fifty years.¹ It passed on a letter that his father had written him sixty years earlier, asking him to find a grove (see Eliath's Letter to Mathas (Handout)).¹ Mathas had not done it. Luma thinks he believes his father is crazy.¹ He told her plainly not to act on the letter, and wrote that he did not remember any of it.¹ Luma meant to tell him about the Sterling Sovereign’s treatment of Hazel the next time she saw him.¹
