Miles Quickstep is a young human man who runs errands for the Tarnar Syndicate. Quickstep is a byname rather than a family name. The party met him in Argentum during the Festival of Bells.1

Appearance

Lean and agile, in close-fitting leathers dyed deep burgundy and charcoal. His sandy blonde hair is cropped at the sides and falls into a wild mass on top.

Personality

Miles is young and brash, and dedicated to the work.

Biography

Session 1

Hazel made contact with Miles at the festival, and he told her to collect her reagents after six.1 The whole party came with Iva to the meeting, since she could not shake them. Iva handed a child into his keeping to be smuggled out of the city, at the moment the Everfire Lamp erupted, and to prove she was the contact he had dealt with she had to show him that she is a changeling. He left knowing two of her faces.1

Session 2

High Inquisitor Westra Saelis named Miles as the chief suspect and showed the party a rough sketch of him. She told them he had been arrested a year earlier for pickpocketing, that witnesses had placed him at the festival, and that he was believed to have Tarnar Syndicate ties. The sketch was a poor likeness, though it caught his armor exactly.2 Iva and Temerity were ordered to hunt him through the maintenance tunnels.2 Mama Kora told Hazel that Miles still had the reagents she had paid for.2

Session 3

The party found Miles in a hidden room off the sewers with the mage child Brundun and Silas Wintermist. Temerity rushed him and was stopped by Silas.3 Silas offered the party a choice over his freedom, and they chose to turn him in. Before they left, Miles handed Hazel the ritual reagents she had bought.3

Session 4

The party escorted Miles to the Order of the Lantern barracks and handed him over to Julia Valerius.4

Session 14

The guards at the bridges out of the Lantern Wards rarely check papers, but did while Miles was being hunted.5

Session 15

Miles was in prison in 1714 PSF. Silas Wintermist had promised to get him out, and on 2 Nightdeep asked Iva to help him do it and get Miles out of the city.6
