Amber Deepdraft

Amber Deepdraft is a senior Vaultsmith in Argentum, and a member of the Unbound.¹ She is the daughter of Riswynn Deepdraft and the niece of Rurik Hulduro.¹ She issued the work order that sent Luma into the sealed vaults.¹

Description

Appearance

A dwarven woman about Luma’s height, with light brown hair in a ponytail and a neatly braided beard.¹ When she followed Luma she wore plain, decent clothes and a hooded cloak.¹

Personality

Amber rehearsed her approach to Luma, then was caught lurking in an alley with the tip of her boot showing.¹ She uses her real name, though she knows a false one would be wiser, and calls it a work in progress.¹ She drinks steadily and it does not show.¹

Amber felt real guilt over Luma’s firing, and winced every time Luma said she had no job.¹ She apologized several times, and then stopped: “I’m done apologizing. I’m asking if you would like to be a part of something or not.”¹ She does not trust the Tarnar Syndicate.¹

Biography

Background

Amber first met Luma in the maintenance tunnels under Argentum, the day Luma found the Syndicate’s hidden door, and warned her then not to get involved with the Syndicate. Luma tracked her down again later.¹ Luma struck her as someone with an inquisitive mind. Amber had wanted to know what was in the sealed vaults for years, and more than that, whether Luma was someone who could go digging.¹ She wrote the work order without putting her name on it, meaning to pull Luma’s report before anyone else saw it.¹

Session 16

Amber caught Luma outside the Bureau of Infrastructure & Mapping on 3 Nightdeep, 1714 PSF, the morning Luma was fired, and invited her to the Stacks for drinks that night.¹ There she told the party she was sorry, and that she had not known how closely certain forces in the Vaultsmiths read reports.¹ She took them down to the Unbound’s basement, told them what the group believes, and read and copied Luma’s full report.¹ She told them about the Elder Exodus, her uncle Rurik’s account of it, and her other uncle Tordek, who left in it.¹ Hiring Luma herself would draw suspicion, but she offered to see what the group could pay for the report.¹
